Curaçao Gaming Authority Confirms Licensing Portal Hack

The Curaçao Gaming Authority said on Sept. 17, 2026 that someone gained unauthorized access to the online portal it uses to license and supervise gambling companies.

Every company licensed on the island files through that portal. The authority's public register, last updated Sept. 16, 2026, lists 616 licenses, 523 held by operators that take bets from players and 93 by suppliers. Applications carry corporate records and a personal history form naming the people behind each company.

CGA Says the Access Is Contained

The regulator said it and its service provider triggered their incident response procedures as soon as they detected the intrusion, and that the provider opened a forensic investigation.The access has been contained and its source identified, the CGA said, without naming the source.

"The investigation remains ongoing and has not yet established the full scope of the incident."

The authority used that line in its written statement, adding that it is still assessing "whether and which information was accessed."

It said it has found no indication that its core technical infrastructure was compromised, but called it premature to draw conclusions about the overall impact, given the nature of the data it holds.

Individuals, applicants, licensees or other stakeholders whose information turns out to be affected will be contacted directly, the CGA said.

A Second Gambling Regulator Hit in 2026

Malta's gambling regulator confirmed a breach of its own systems in March 2026, according to multiple industry reports, and a Berlin-based security researcher publicly claimed responsibility.

The CGA said it will publish further updates as facts are established, and that it can disclose nothing more while the investigation and its contact with other authorities continue.
