bet365 Launches in Washington, D.C. With Capitals and Wizards Deal

The District is bet365's 19th US jurisdiction and its only market open to 18-year-olds. A multi-year Monumental Sports deal puts the brand inside Capital One Arena and on Capitals, Wizards and Mystics broadcasts.

bet365 opened its online sportsbook to bettors in Washington, D.C., on Sept. 8, its 19th US jurisdiction.

The operator already runs sportsbooks in 18 states, and the District is smaller than any of them, with fewer than 700,000 residents. A district-wide online license there costs $2 million for five years and carries a 30% tax on gross gaming revenue, the steepest of the three license classes the Office of Lottery and Gaming issues.

The minimum betting age is 18, not 21.

bet365 Signs Monumental Sports for Arena and Broadcast Ads

The launch came with a multi-year partnership with Monumental Sports & Entertainment, the company behind the NHL's Washington Capitals, the NBA's Washington Wizards and the WNBA's Washington Mystics.

bet365 takes digital signage inside Capital One Arena and commercial slots before and during the three teams' broadcasts, the company said in its launch announcement.

"Bringing bet365 to our nation's capital expands our reach in the U.S. and establishes our presence in one of the country's most dynamic sports markets."

Said Trip Stoddard, head of development at bet365, in the same announcement. New customers get $50 in bonus bets for a $10 wager.

Seven Sportsbooks Now Chase a Market of 700,000

bet365 becomes the seventh online sportsbook live in the District, joining FanDuel, DraftKings, BetMGM, Caesars, Fanatics and theScore Bet, according to multiple industry reports. FanDuel, which three members of Congress pressed in August to scrap its VIP program, has run the District's main betting app since April 2024.

The regulator's approved license list, last revised April 30, 2026, shows Caesars holding the Class A license attached to Capital One Arena. Monumental owns that building, and bet365's signage will now run inside it.

Washington is also the only bet365 market open to 18-year-olds, according to multiple industry reports; everywhere else the company requires 21.

Operators file revenue figures with the Office of Lottery and Gaming every month, and the agency publishes them. bet365's first full month of District handle will appear in the report covering October.
