Duelbits Hacked Again: $4.3 Million Drained, Site Offline

PeckShield says an attacker swapped the funds into ETH. Duelbits confirmed a security incident but has not said whether player balances were hit or when the site returns.

Duelbits Goes Offline After $4.3 Million Stolen from Hot Wallet

Duelbits took its crypto casino offline on Sept. 24 to investigate what it called a security incident. Earlier that morning, blockchain security firm PeckShield flagged about $4.3 million in suspicious outflows from the operator's wallets.

Players with money on the site have the most at stake. FairGambling's tracker counted almost $190.6 million in deposits to Duelbits over the 365 days to Sept. 24, from more than 85,000 depositing addresses. Duelbits has not said whether player balances were touched.

PeckShield Traces the Money

PeckShield posted its alert at 10:15 a.m. UTC. It listed 836 ETH worth about $2.23 million, 1.146 million USDT, 209 BNB, 96,805 USDC, 12.4 billion SHIB and 31,515 DAI, all moved on Ethereum and BNB Chain.

The firm said the attacker has since swapped the haul for 1,587.87 ETH, worth about $4.2 million, plus 31,500 DAI.

Scam Sniffer, another monitoring service, put the loss at about $4.2 million and said Duelbits wallets on Tron were hit too, according to multiple industry reports. It suspects a leaked private key. A hot wallet is the internet-connected wallet a casino uses to pay out withdrawals, and its key controls the funds inside.

Duelbits Confirms an Incident but Not the Cause

Duelbits responded on X about 90 minutes after PeckShield's alert.

"We're currently investigating a security incident affecting the site. As a precaution, the site has been taken offline while we investigate and work to ensure it is safe to restore service."

That was the full statement from Duelbits. No mention of the total loss or cause.

The operator has been here before. In February 2024, an attacker drained about $4.6 million from Duelbits wallets on Ethereum and BNB Chain, according to multiple reports at the time.

Two questions remain open: whether Duelbits will cover any player losses from its own funds, and when the site comes back.

The company hasn't yet clarified when it will resume services.
