BetHog Crypto Casino Closing July 31 in Pivot to AI Dealers

FanDuel co-founders are shutting their BetHog crypto casino on July 31, 2026 to focus entirely on AI live-dealer venture Sentient Studios.

BetHog Shutting Down

BetHog is shutting down less than two years after launch. The crypto casino, founded by FanDuel co-founders Nigel Eccles and Rob Jones, announced its closure on July 20, 2026. The founders are pivoting to Sentient Studios, their AI live-dealer spin-out. BetHog has not set a deadline for players to withdraw their balances.

BetHog raised a $6 million seed round at launch, and a $10 million Series A in April 2026, led by Will Ventures and RockawayX. Sentient Studios spun out the same month.

The board approved the shutdown roughly a month before the announcement. Eccles told Forbes the team could not excel at running a consumer casino and a B2B studio at once, and that crypto casinos make up less than 10% of the online casino market, so licensing dealer technology to everyone else is the bigger prize.

Sunny Reportedly Outdrew BetHog's Live Dealers Ten to One

The pivot follows the product's numbers. Sentient's photo-realistic AI dealer Sunny, tested on BetHog since October 2024, was reportedly ten times more popular than its live-dealer equivalent and consistently the platform's top game.

Sunny deals blackjack and baccarat in 15 languages, greets returning players by name, and adds roulette by August, with over 70 languages planned. First operator deals are expected in Q3 2026.

Sentient enters a live-dealer market valued at $11.8 billion and projected to reach $34.2 billion by 2033, where incumbent Evolution saw Q1 live casino revenue slip 3.1% to €434.9 million and rivals like Avanti Studios and ICONIC21 are shipping their own AI dealers.

What This Means for Players

It's a good idea to withdraw your BetHog balance now rather than waiting for a posted deadline. Wind-downs can move faster than announced, and recovering stranded crypto from a shuttered operator is rarely simple.
